Have you ever dated someone online who lived in another country? Tim Heath, a robot inventor living in Silicon Valley, did just that. After jumping into LDS Planet — an online dating site for Mormons — he meets Sarita, a recently converted Hindu living in Nepal. The two date for three months before Tim proposes and he finds himself on the next plane to meet her in person for the first time.
He marries her the next day in a traditional Hindu wedding.
By using the technology he knows and loves, Tim meets the woman of his dreams. Without an open mind, and a little bit of his own open source and hacker philosophy, he wouldn’t have gone on this wonderful journey.
LOVE HACKING is a contemporary love story where Mormons and Hindus come together in a journey of faith, technology, and marriage.
LOVE HACKING is Jenni Nelson’s thesis film for her MFA degree in Documentary Film and Video at Stanford University. Support this wonderful documentary by donating to her project on Kickstarter. The Kickstarter project will fund 25% of the budget of the film, and she’s already at $5,925 of her $7,000 funding goal with 11 days left! I know I want to see this project through to the end — what an amazing story.
