6 Eco-Friendly Date Ideas

by Online Dating on April 22, 2011

Happy Earth Day! In honor of Mother Earth, we’ve gathered some fun, eco-friendly date ideas so you and your sweetie can do your part in going green.

The Great Outdoors

What better way to go green than to get in touch with nature? There are plenty of options for outdoor dates:

  • Go for a walk, whether it’s through your local farmer’s market, along the beach, or through the park.
  • Go picnicking at the park, beach, or other outdoor space. Be sure to pack your organic lunch in reusable containers!
  • Rent a canoe, kayak, or paddle boat to go spend a day on the water together.
  • Get dirty at your local community garden. These gardens are popping up all over the country, but if you don’t have one near you, why don’t you plant a garden of your own, you can take care of them with a zero turn lawn mower read more on their review here.
  • Attend an outdoor concert or event to take in some sun.

Massages

Not at a spa, but a massage from you! Massages at home don’t cost anything more than your time, love, and care — they can be quite the sensual experience. Try some fragrant organic massage oils to heighten the experience.

The Bubbly

No, not champagne, a bubble bath! Stay in and enjoy each other’s company by relaxing in a shared bubble bath. It’s romantic and stress-reducing.

Stay In

Save money, gas, and the environment by staying in! Eat on your fancy china, turn off the lights and light some candles, and enjoy a lovely home-cooked meal. Spending the night together? Wake up with breakfast in bed with a great blend of fair trade coffee and organic fruit.

Plant a Tree

How much greener — and more romantic — can you get than planting a tree in your sweetie’s name?

Go Thrifting or Antiquing

A weekend day spent meandering around garage sales, through thrift stores, or flea markets for a fun way to shop without much environmental impact. You can find great second-hand items with plenty of character in antique shops, too.
